The problem is that rumors about the SKYT buyout have been around for awhile. I bought the shares originally at 16 1/2 when I first heard the rumors and sold it at 20. When you consider the price of SKYT when the rumors of MCI interest started circulating, this is a premium. Not to the current prices, however. It seems that happens a lot. Look at USW. It soared from 55 to 65 on news that it may be bought out ... but when the announcement came, there was no premium (at least not after the stock went up on the news) and the stock is now below where it was pre-announcement, trading around 54.
Buy on the rumor and sell on the runup ... unless you feel the fundamentals of the company are such that a bidding war could ensue. That is the only way I have ever won on takeovers.
