been in typical overload Frank-

The VC allowed any possibility, but fwiw, was not overly impressed (I'm trying to be tactful in public. take it for whatever it's worth)

Not sure what you'd like expanded-

"Lucent's CTO Bob Martin (who is a BIG Clayton Christensen fan - will this arbitrage the red/blue zone differential as "Lucents" now look to be involved in disruption?) is talking about 50 THz (on 1K lambdas) on a single fiber with 2:1 single channel efficiency (vs LU's BLAST program which has achieved MUCH higher - up to 1000x - channel efficiency by going beyond the Shannon single-channel approach) by 2005. Martin claims that 400Gbps (over 80 lambdas) is available and DEPLOYED today."

roughly:
- Lucent has 400Gbps WDM (over 80 wavelengths) deployed today
- Lucent sees 100Tbps over 1000 wavelengths by 2005 with 2:1 b/Hz efficiency (100Tb/50THz)
- Lucent's wireless previously reported "Blast" project can achieve significant increases over the Shannon-theoretic channel capacity by using *multi* channels.
-Martin/Lucent have embraced Christensen's disruptive paradigm
