Hi JavaGuy - I noticed today that SUNW has a separate facility for JAVA development called Sun JAVA located in Cupertino on DeANZA Blvd. (in Silicon Valley). This building used to be one of the Apple buildings (Apple's corporate offices are across the street) but now for the first time I am noticing Sunw developers there. Next door is another facility (south of the SUNW building) which is occupied by IBM where they develop Java software too.

My observation is that 24 month's ago both Sunw and IBM and the JAVA group were no where to be found in this area. I find it encouraging that both these companies (IBM and SUNW) have invested in these facilities and staff them with developers specifically working on JAVA applications. My guess is that combined these buildings accommodate upwards of 650 programmers and support staff.

Can anybody else add to the thread where either SUNW or IBM have opened up new facilities (around the world) where the focus has been on JAVA development?

To date, software revenues have been small compared to the other revenue streams booked by Sunw. As more resources are invested in the software business, I would expect future software revenues to contribute much more going forward.

EKS
