LRR, I am hoping I can answer these med questions you asked, maybe tomorrow while the mkt is open, because there is a little more of interest.

I did get tired enough to give up. That is exactly how tired I was. I knew I was going to die, if I did. I might die anyway. That's a peculiar place to be, where you know there's only one "step" between you and death. It's right there.

The body was not interested in giving up. It really struggles. It is not interested in the intellect. It has been designed to stay alive. To want to stay alive.

I think we tend to think it is "us" who decides to stay alive; who wants to live. But there is a more autonomous, or deeper, force; the self-interest of the body itself. Primal interest in, devotion to, survival. It believes it is "its" Existence. Which is true, but this "it" is lower, less visible ~ actually, invisible.

We would be too incompetent for the job.
