JavaGuy - I do not think there is any "New" joint development between IBM and SUNW but rather it is interesting to see both SUNW and IBM signs along this street that has always been previously dominated by Apple buildings. I guess it is just a reflection of the changing times.

Another interesting observation here in Silicon Valley is down the road where Lawrence Expressway begins. Many of the new company start ups pop up from time to time along this road. In the 70's it was chip development firms, 80's PC's and Networking companies and now in the 90's I see all of these " .COM" signs.

I guess I should pay more attention to the new companies I see as I drive around the area. I do know that CSCO, 3 Com, Intel, SGI, and SUNW continue to acquire more land and build larger and newer facilities.

Sunw seems well positioned with their products and services at this point in time. However with Intel's new Merced chip,MS's Windows 2000 OS, and many other new emerging technologies, SUNW must stay on their toes as they continue to implement their business plan. IMO both Java and Jini applications will become more apparent in SUNW's future products. Watch for those new cable set-top boxes next year. There is a lot of computer and networking power stuffed into these boxes.

Wouldn't there be some anti-trust issues in a SUNW-IBM merger? I know there would be in an HWP-SUNW merger which I feel would also be good fit.
