I think we're nuts to get into the middle of that civil war. The Serbs are being brutal, but all sides in that fight have been ugly at one time or another. It's only a matter of "when". Ten years ago the Serbs were getting evicted by either the Croats or the ethnic Albanians. In WWII the Serbs helped the Allies, the Albanians helped the Axis. It's an ugly fight, but I can't see that NATO can solve it. You would have to conquer the Serbs and occupy the country indefinitely. Against a population that is holding a grudge dating back to the 1300's. Think they won't outwait us? And while we are there they would wage a guerilla war of attrition. Snipers. Boobytraps. Just kill a few GIs a week. Nothing big enough for you to target. Just bleed you like leeches. It's idiocy.
