Kosovo is the historic heartland of Serbian culture, where the Serbs believe they originated. It is full of thousand year old Serbian monasteries and churches. The Serbs are no more going to allow it to become an independent ethnic Albanian Moslem state than Arabs are going to allow Mecca to become an independent non-Arab Christian state. The Serbs are going to wait out any enforced peace that doesn't leave Serbs in control of Kosovo. As soon as outside pressure is off of them the fighting will break out again. Getting in the middle of that war is a fool's errand.
