vegas,

Once the computer magazines come out with bench performances of RMBS machines vs. competing technology - I think it's pretty much over for the competing technology, unless I missing something here

This is another interesting topic. There are many that say RDRAM offers no real performance benefits over SDRAM. I am not saying this is true, but due to the RMBS gag rule, not much real concrete evidence has been released- positive or negative.

We are all just putting our faith in INTC as they had no vested interest early on to chose RMBS unless it worked. As we all know, INTC is the driver here!

Regards,

MileHigh

I agree with you. IBM made a lot of money selling typewriters to everybody. They almost had a government monopoly. Now they are going for the business word processing end of the market. It's a nice big safe market and you certainly don't need a faster machine. Now when we start talking about downloading movies or music or playing games over the larger pipes (ie. @home) then you need a faster machine. That's a big market that's Rambus!

jmanvegas -

The IBM thing will not be one-sided event imo. The pro-rmbs analysts will likely weigh in, and once they put things in perspective similar to what you've done in your post, (hopefully even just half as well!), it will surely bounce back up.
