Bill, Excellent article on new drilling technologies in the "Oil and Gas Report section of today's Midland Reporter-Telegram. The article highlights new laser-assisted "burn" drilling, Shell's and Baker Hughes new Inteq Program for expandable drilling pipe expanded by smart pigs, RCLS or "Rotary Closed-Loop Systems used for e.g. by Total on its Cullen Norte No. 1 well in Tierra del Fuego, Chile, Baker Hughes Inteq Top-Drive coiled tubing rig now active in Lake Maracaibo, and newest and most radical Tesco Drilling's Technology Company of Canada's drilling using the casing string.

BTW these techniques are all currently in use around the world. But note that these are "pricey" technologies. For e.g Baker Hughes RCLS System costs $35,000/day- so don't expect any of these technologies to replace current drilling systems soon. However they do make some prospects otherwise previously uneconomic to drill, now viable...

Sincerely,

PS- Don't forget to watch the opening of the Indianapolis 500 motor race tomorrow morning....

Thanks Bill...the Dog is working hard!

I have another takeover "rumor" I'm working on and may have ready for next week's issue.....maybe.

But some folks prefer the PR Newswire for info....go figure. Momma always said, if it's free -- take two. But Daddy would counter that with, "Son, if it's worth having it's worth paying for. Nothing worth much is free".
