Buying back options at higher price than sold is very very bad idea. In fact, I never buy back options. Period. Let'em expire worthless or dare Ms Market to take underlying stock away. If she takes'em away, you should clap your hands & jump in exhilarating joy.

In the 7 yrs I have been writing options, only 20% have caused the underlying to be called away at expiration. Every single one of the called-away stocks could be bought back at lower price within 6 months, most of them at 30% off or more.

Option writing is win-win-win. Of course writing should be done only after stock has run up quite a bit.
