Samsung to supply digital satellite receivers to U.K.
www1.koreaherald.co.kr

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. said yesterday it will ship 700,000 digital satellite receivers worth $170 million to Amstrad of the United Kingdom.

Under the contract, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply the satellite receivers by June 2000, which will be used by U.K. satellite television group British Sky Broadcasting.

The deal follows a $43 million satellite receiver order from the same U.K firm recently, according to the company.

Samsung expects shipments to Amstrad to reach $400 million by 2002 as demand for digital satellite receivers grows rapidly in the U.K.
