There was nothing new in the article that hasn't been said over and over for the last year. I have to say, Barrons has really declined in the last few years. If Amazon gets hit as a result of this article then I would go long and sell when the inevitable bounce occurs... I don't have a position in Amazon myself but this stuff is really old news and there is no reason to single out amzn as the one fundamental rule breaker in the internet world, what a bore. They should have taken apart priceline, thats an intriguing issue that many don't understand (myself included), also losing money and very richly valued, tell us why or why not its worth 15 billion. But no, to do that the reporters of bearons would have to do some research now wouldn't they? (as opposed to their usual method of reading the SI amazon thread)

OK done ranting for the day!

PS has anybody in Seattle area heard of Vishon, Wa? What is that a suburb? Anybody been to the K2 skate factory - do they sell direct there? PM me if so!

I don't think this will affect the market on Tuesday since it's not the first time Barron's badmouthed AMZN and the Net sector. This is not new or news by any means.

The article will have some effect on the market price of AMZN. Although Barron's has not strayed from it's normal skewering of the AMZN business model, I think the revelation of declining book revenues and their attempts to hide it by acquiring other on-line retailers will have potentially substantial long-term effect on the stock-price. The difference here is they come out an flat out say, "AMZN is pure smoke and mirrors, as they are a pure middleman whose revenues are decelerating at an alarming rate."

As far as how it effects GNET, I think it will be marginal. The business models simply are not anywhere close to similar. GNET provides the content to the internet, whose infrastructure is now in place and this is the next big opportunity in the stock market along with data storage.

Barrons has been wrong on a lot of their predictions. Even if they are right, GO2NET is a winner.
