The United States didnt give aid to the Jewish settlers in the Levant at that time nor did the US even have influence there, it was a British protectorate. Ever heard of the Balfaour Declaration?

The fact is that the "palestinians" were Arab hangers on in Jerusalem and TelAviv, and the country was a barren waste populated by more camels than Arabs. It was the Jewish kibbutzim that built that land into a productive territory, and it wasnt until then that the Arabs had a sudden interest in the hinterland. If it was not for the Jews, "Palestine" west of the Jordan would have remained much as "Palestine" east of the Jordan, that is, *Jordan*, has remained, thanks to the "palestinians" and despite the efforts of King Hussein, a barren desert. Even now, the "palestinian" territories on the West Bank are little more than slums, and the most Arafat has done to build a nation is to beg for money from the Arab world and drool at the prospect of looting Israel.

Re: 5 billion

That's probably true, but. at least, it was put to good use and not squandered by a few political leaders while their people had to shift for themselves.
