KZ, I believe you're right. But Paul and others know much more about the history and management players at Intel than I.

I did see a clip about a year ago where Andrew Grove was hopping around in a bunny suit. He seemed to be having a really good time. :-)

As I sit here, it just occurred to me. I wonder how an Iacocca type of commercial would play to the public. When Andrew Grove speaks, you really sense the passion and excitement he has for the computer and what it can do for children. Especially as it relates to education? I bet showing him give a speech and exciting a bunch of 7th graders would be a moving commercial.

Re: "Many companies get taken over by their marketeers. (Who heads AMD?)"

KZNerd,

Answer: a SALES guy! :)

Re: "Intel has always been run by technologists...but no marketeers."

I thought they all eventually went on to become excellent marketers and great leaders. :) Okay, I agree...the more technically driven a high-tech company is, the better. I tend to think of Intel as an excellent technical manufacturing engine.

Well times up. No one won the "Name a famous marketeer from Intel" contest. In fact, no one even tried except for one crank entry (Brian Halla). Too bad. The prize was Benjamin H. Lunsford's Coach Edition Lexus.

The correct answer is Bill Davidow.
