PMS,

I think I'm getting closer! Couldn't find Hyperterminal so had to load it from WIN '98 CD.

I found Hyperterminal icon and double clicked on it. I was prompted for a "Connection Description - New Connection" and then "enter a name and choose an icon for the connection."

I went through that procedure, set the modem volume to "zero" and dialed and did not hear a thing!! WOW!

My question is 1. how do I enter in the "AT" commands after double clicking on Hyperterminal?

By the way, I am using AT&T Mail (email service) which has its own dialer and therefore am NOT going through "Dial Up Networking" for my connection.

Thanks again PMS!

Sue
