Taiwan Angered by U.S. Chip 'Dumping'

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan's Finance Ministry will consider
tariffs of up to 67 percent against U.S. computer chip makers
found guilty of dumping products on the Taiwan market,
news reports said Sunday.

The International Trade Commission, a body under the
Economics Ministry, has accused Micron Technology Inc.
and the U.S. subsidiaries of Korean firms Samsung
Electronics and Hyundai of dumping dynamic random access
memory chips in Taiwan, Taiwan's United Daily News
reported.

The action caused Taiwan chip prices to drop from $60 a
chip to $4, and caused Taiwan's top three DRAM makers to
lose $351 million over 12 months, the report said, citing data
released Saturday by the commission.

The Finance Ministry is expected to recommend punitive
tariffs by August, with a final ruling in October, the
newspaper said.

What sort of tariffs could be applied to LSI if any?
