Amzn loses more money on repeat customers than they do on first-timers. First timers tend to order several or more books, due to the novelty of it. Repeat customers usually only buy one book. The costs of fulfilling an order for one book are much higher per book than for a multiple-book order.

Therefore, repeat business is not necessarily good for amazon.
