<<but I sure would like to hear a definitive announcement from the PHLX on the deployment date.>>

FWIW:

1.) The system has been fully tested and is now
"locked down." UTTC is currently installing interfaces
for potential users.

2.) UTTC has performed 99% of the marketing to date
and report significant interest from institutions, the
names of which cannot currently be divulged.

3.) An official start date is likely to be announced in
early June. We anticipate an early summer launch.

mst, why do you think that a second entrant will have greater regulatory difficulties than the first one? I would have guessed that the principles are ironed out and if the new entrant has the financial resources, the regulatory environment should be much simpler. I would even venture (and that is a guess) that the precarious financial condition of ASTN might have had a lot to do with the delays they have suffered. The SEC always tries to make sure that customers are not left holding the bag for brokers going down the drain (and in essence, ASTN, or it's sub) act like a broker.

I think that ATG has a valuable advantage of being first, but unless it is rapidly leveraged to a "commanding" position, and if the profits are as large as the thread expect, the thread should also expect fierce competition to ensue. There is an interesting window of opportunity, but I am not smart enough to forecast how well it will be exploited.
