Michelle it may interest you to know that for years now, the "old line" of business has been enjoying production based in least-cost Asia and Latin America.


I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I'm talking about low margin commodity goods where logistics account for a disproportionate cost of the good itself. "Manufacturing" (if it exists) on these types of items is a factor sure but it would cost more to move the goods overseas than it is worth. Thats why Dell manufactures (assembles actually) in Austin. Producing books in China doesn't make much sense to me. It works for Nikes though I agree.
