Tomas, hello

Thanks for the posts. Does anyone out there with a good grasp of the big picture (Tomas, Douglas, etc.) share my instinct that the Iraq sanctions are only partially about Saddam?

My own view is that the sanctions started out as an incentive for his removal, but has evolved into a strategy by the West (read US and UK) to set the pace for OPEC's growth and production contribution to the world oil pool.

With Iraq in this position, it will be a minimum of 5 years before producing infrastructure recovers lost ground, and if this scenario continues much longer I would imagine that irreparable reservoir damage will be done, such that cannot be ameliorated by replacement drilling.

Regards,

Aggie
