INTC has already paid out a lot for R&D itself and no one sees to be mourning that loss or pointing to those parts as "save alls." 500 million to MU and at least a couple to Samsung. but they did get parts from Samsaung. -- just stock from MU

Carl,
Check out this article on Intel's PC on a chip. Aimed at the low end of the PC market, it includes a builtin Rambus controller, which the article points out could be good or bad news. The bad news is a high-cost item selling into a low margin market segment.
