That's an excellent point, and its certainly possible that a shift away from climbing ASPs is coming. Such a shift would require significant changes in the fab business model, as it would make paying for new technology more difficult.

On the other hand, DRAMs are still by far the largest segment of the market by volume, so they will have a much larger influence on both ASPs and equipment purchases than cell phone chips. Cell phone chips may not be as value-added as microprocessors, but they are at least equal to DRAMs.
