Drinks are on you - I need a 10'000% return to get rich on my initial stock investment. That's a long term project.

In the meanwhile, Microsoft is showing signs of cracking under pressure. They failed to prevent Matsushita from joining Symbian, so the consortium now has the world's four biggest phone manufacturers on board. Sony is reportedly preparing Epoc-based handsets as well.

According to The Times, Ballmer is now trying to persuade the Symbian members to abandon the consortium and back WinCE. I don't know what he's smoking, but I want some of it as well.

News agency Startel has already published Nokia's instant put-down:

"Nokia vakuuttaa, että se on sitoutunut matkapuhelinvalmistajien
yhteisyritykseen Symbianiin. -Nokia on sitoutunut Symbianiin ja sen
Epoc-käyttöjärjestelmään, kertoi Nokia Mobile Phones -yksikön
viestintäjohtaja Tapio Hedman uutistoimisto Startelille.

Lontoolainen The Times -lehti kertoi tänään, että Microsoft yrittää

matkapuhelinvalmistaja Panasonic, Hedman esitti."

Here's the scorecard: Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola and Matsushita (who owns the Panasonic brand) own a stake in Symbian with Psion. EPOC PDA's are already on the market, EPOC smartphones will arrive next winter. Qualcomm and Alcatel are using Palm Pilot OS in their first smartphones. Sony is leaning towards EPOC; Siemens has a close alliance with Palm Pilot, but has not committed yet. This leaves WinCE-based smartphones where? Depending on Nextel handsets in the summer of 2000?

some young upstart company will have developed a a replacement
for CDMA --- and those new groupies will be chiding you with slogan ,
"CDMA is toast" !
