blankmind: Good points all. It brings to mind the oil companies that are merging left and right and are integrated from 10,000 ft below the ground to the gas station; not to mention the convenience food expansion laterally. The Standard suit was supposed to collar monopolies in the energy area-hoho. I don't see the price of gas varying all that much at any given location between competing brands. And I don't see a lot of innovation in this field. The consider the abortive ATT and IBM suits. ATT is once again on top and IBM through its claque of mignons is trying its best to eliminate the only real threat it has ever had to its dominance in the cpu industry.
