but not the megalomania and craving for power associated with most party members. >>

Russia has never really been a super power. It briefly under Stalin
became a strong military might, but super powers should also have a super economy. Russian and Soviet Union never did! Now they have been reduced to the pre-revolutionary levels, where they belong! Russia, comapring to the rest of Europe and the United States is a primitive society in many aspects, off course with the exception of the elite!
Today, they are trying to gain international recognation at the cost
of US and NATO's defeat in Serbia! WHo needs them. The Communism is
dead, and there is no longer any ideological ties between Russia and
the third world nations. Nobody wants their manufactured goods (not even Greeks and Bulgarians!) They have lost their miilions of salvs
in Eatern Europe, who shipped food, raw matterials, and western made equipments(paid for with the hard currency) to Russia
and were paid with toilet paper!! Who wants them? Not even Cubans! So, they are finished, like it or not! They can't re-invent what their
empire. Miltarily, economically, and ideologically!
