But was it "ethical" while it was thriving under Stalin? John Kenneth Galbraith was just one of the economists who was predicting back in the 1950s that the USSR was going to surpass the United States. Granted, he was a fool who had never read Mises' critiques of the inherent failure of the price mechanism under socialism, but that's beside the point. Mainland China seems to be thriving today; is their system "moral"?

The United States has one of the oldest existing governments. Most of the rest of the world has undergone political revolutions after the advent of the US Constitution. By your system would we have to judge all those societies as unethical because they broke down? Isn't that a flaw in your "what works" system of ethics?
