I didn't die in battle. I wasn't even in a war. I was a medic in Germany. Had orders for Vietnam but the whole company got rerouted before going.

I can't think of anyone else who has, either, Dad was in WWII from North Africa until the German surrender, under Generals Patton and Patch. A lieutenant on an AA gun. His great uncle was a private in the 13th Mississippi, CSA. Killed in action July 3rd, 1863, at Gettysburg, and buried in the field; at the Peach Orchard, in the charge led by General Barksdale. Another uncle, or perhaps a cousin, Stephen Decatur Quinnelly, fought in the Mexican American War. Then, when he was in his 40's, he was with an Alabama regiment for the entire Civil War, from Manassas until Appomatox. He fought at Gettsburg, down by Devil's Den and Little Round Top, where Longstreet tried to turn the Union left. Going farther back there's a grandfather, George Stubblefield, who was a major in the Continental Army. He kept a journal, which is in some museum. I ought to try to track it down.
