Reel.com Launches 'In Theaters Now' Online Movie Guide; New Section Offers Movie Reviews, Feature Stories, and Celebrity Interviews

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1999--Reel.com
(http://www.reel.com, Nasdaq:HLYW), the leading online movie store,
today unveiled "In Theaters Now," an online movie guide designed to
give movie lovers access to information on films currently in
theatrical release.

"In Theaters Now" offers full-length movie reviews, editorial
features, interviews with directors and actors, and the latest box
office numbers. The new section, created by Reel.com's staff of movie
experts, expands Reel.com's current assortment of proprietary
editorial offerings, which include feature stories, filmographies,
movies-at-a-glance, movie matches, and more.

"In Theaters Now is an indispensable tool for movie-goers," said
Jeff Jordan, CEO of Reel.com. "Similar to our movie overview pages --
which are designed to aid in the discovery and purchase of DVD and VHS
titles -- this new section helps movie goers match his or her taste to
movies currently playing or coming soon to theaters. The new section
expands on Reel.com's commitment to being a leading online movie
destination for both content and commerce."

Within this new editorial section, movie lovers can find
information on everything from reviews to the latest box office
receipts. These new features include the following:

1-10 rating for the latest theatrical releases and in-depth

reviews on their movie of choice.

-- "Interviews" -- a place where customers can learn about films

from the perspective of the writers, actors, and directors.

-- "Editors Extra" -- a regular feature in which a recently released

film is discussed by Reel.com's crack team of editors in terms of

past cinematic influences. For example, this week's section

includes a feature story about "The Spy Who Shagged Me," which

explores the influences on Austin Powers and the development of

the genre.

-- "Coming Soon" -- a way for movie lovers to learn about films in

development. Here, they can read plot summaries and the recent

buzz, both positive and negative, for films that haven't yet been

released. This feature also lists a film's genre, rating, and

anticipated box office release date.

-- "Box Office" -- a list of the current rankings by box office

gross of new movie and soundtrack releases, including a list of

the top grossing films exactly one year before the current date.

-- "Notify Me" -- an email notification service. Movie fans can

simply enter their email address and Reel.com will automatically

notify them once the titles are available on DVD or VHS.

Each movie review, editorial feature, and interview is linked to
Reel.com's popular filmographies, which are available for the movie's
actors and director, and any others who may be mentioned in the
review. Each film mentioned in the section is also linked to
Reel.com's "Overview" pages.

These pages include "Reel Snapshots," which are 30-word
descriptions crafted to explain who would like the movie and why; and
"Movie at a Glance." a chart that scores the movie's basic elements
such as its level of suspense, violence, and action. The "Overview"
pages also deliver "Movie Matches." a listing of films that the
editors would recommend to people who liked the movie selected.
