MACD is actually my favorite buy signal indicator. When you are watching a falling stock the first thing you need to do is find the bottom. This is where WilliamsR% is great. I then look for conformation by watching for signals using Money Flow and ROC. Once these signal you know you have a bottom.

The best time to buy a stock is not on the bottom because you never know if your bottom pick is correct unless you are able to confirm it with the other mentioned indicators. The best time to buy is on the way back up which is normally close to a bottom but when the stock has made a definite directional change. MACD signals this definite change. This is why MACD is considered a momentum indicator.
