There is no doubt that the Serbs have committed atrocities.

No there is no doubt. Now how do we enforce the international law that you're so fervently defending and bring him to trial??

Why weren't the Bosnian Serb leaders brought to trial after being indicted by the War Crimes tribunal in '96. There are still dozens of them out there who haven't been hunted down and brought to justice(contrary to those Nazis we went to the ends of the earth to find).

Would it be legal to use coercive force against any nation harboring such War Criminals??

There is a great deal of doubt whether they attempted to destabilize their neighboring governments, at least before the bombing started.

Wrong. The Serbs have been destabilizing the entire region with their pursuit of a Greater Serbia. Saying they haven't is tantamount to claiming that Hitler's Anschloss of Austria, and annexation of the Sudetenland were merely his attempt to unite the German people (which is what he claimed at the time and why the West couldn't raise a strong argument against his ambitions).

If there had not been a destabilization then tell me why the hell you have 19 nations who seldom can agree on anything, telling us that they had no choice but to bomb Serbia to counter Milosevic??

It's not like the US is doing this on its own politically. Yes, we are exerting considerable pressure and handing out political favors in order to maintain the coalition, but there is nothing that prevents anyone of the NATO members from opting out from directly involving themselves.

And we're not threatening to invade any NATO country that doesn't go along.

You really seem to understate the fact that this operation is by consensus. And given that an INCREDIBLE number of these nations are VERY LIBERAL, it is even that much more remarkable.

We couldn't get NATO support on opposing a nuclear free zone in Europeduring the '80s, but we can get them to cooperate to deal with Milosevic. And we even had(have?) Germany's Green party supporting
the operation. Amazing in itself!!!

That should say something right there as to the legitimacy of this operation. No other global organization rivals NATO's size and democratic structure, except the UN.

That's authority enough for me to determine whether destabilization has occurred.

Ron
