There was this whiny article in my local paper yesterday from one of the news wires about lotto adversely impacting the poor since they spend a disproportionate amount of their money (not income, since a lot of it is welfare) on lotto tickets. Phooey! They buy lotto tickets for the same reason I do. It gives them something to dream about. It gives them some glimmer of hope for the future. Therefore it gives them pleasure.

I call lotto tickets my Prozac and my psychiatrist. Lotto has the same benefits, but it's a lot more fun. Plus it doesn't have any side effects.

Internet lotto will broadens its appeal to a more upscale audience. ELOT's website mentions this. Especially if the ban on interstate lotto sales is ended. You can check the pots and odds in each state and pick the best one. And it will help defuse the argument that lotto is disproportionately exploiting the poor.
