To Kelly: As you no doubt know, there are UNPH and JDS Fitel threads on SI as well as a thread on JDS Uniphase. But they are only "active" on a spotty basis and the depth there (specifically discussion of the technologies) is not great. I find the SI "Last Mile" thread helpful as are (oddly perhaps) the Ciena, NT, and LU threads. And the operating company threads such as Globalcrossing, Level 3 and QWest have useful posts. Fiberoptics is so new that its scope is underappreciated IMO. Perhaps you could start a thread that would have an emphasis on the fiberoptics technology, new developments, and fiberoptics components equipment suppliers. I would be an enthusiastic participant. Chaz too

Note: There is some discussion here as well, since UNPH is a consensus prince if not a king and is a full card carrying member of the W&W portfolio. But so far, not a major emphasis here. (To my disappointment, our best mind for such in depth research, Mike Buckley, politely declined my invitation) [sigh.]

PS Bandwidth enabling wireless is covered better, starting with the Q thread itself, but discussions of either wireless or fiberoptics technologies as such are not heavy on the ground.

To Kelly: Please see msgs above from Uncle Frank to me and my misdirected one sent to him meant for you. Best. Chaz too Whew.

PS Just to add a slight bit to this procedural post, there is some in depth discussion of fiberoptics on the SI Harmonic (HLIT) thread which is in itself an interesting company which buys UNPH widgets and sells systems for both cable and satellite companies.
