I do not believe the newer iris varieties fade or stain. When the bloom on my Dutch iris is finished, it folds up. My Siberian irises are light yellow with white. They are delicate. They do not fade or stain either.

I think my next door neighbor has the older variety of purple and white ones that stain and fade. I was in the yard the other day. The new neighbor asked me how to take care of her rose that her husband bought for her when the baby was born. And the irises that were no longer at their peak looked terrible.

What kind of poppies did Sue get? They are beautiful but our major complaint is that they don't last very long and they are huge so they require a great deal of space for a small city garden.
