OT: Michelle: <I don't like the cheap airfares market really, since air travel has remained fragmented more than the other inet spaces, so what makes priceline able to garner substantial market share?> The reason for the market cap is that it's not just about airfaires. Just as amzn is not just about books. (Wasn't that you bam who said this so aptly? The beauty of their business model is that it is about anything! They are rolling out new products in the future just as amzn will be doing. Yes, the market cap is higher than I would prefer. But the management is top notch. They have convinced WS that they belong on the inet first tier. I was sceptacle at first but have become a believer. Of course it would be nice if they ipo'd with a float of 3.5M like ebay. But more and more folks are getting it, so that kind of easy money will be much harder to come by going forward. <Where did you get that on priceline name recognition btw? > I read it. Sorry I don't have the link handy. Perhaps someone else can provide it? <It looks like maybe pcln is trying to take out the direct autobytel and autoweb business... I'm not sure how effective that will be.> If autos prove not to be profitable, it is easy for pcln to move on to something else. That is the beauty of their model. Besides, it is all about BRAND. In the future, I believe consumers will think: "if I want a good price, I will go to priceline" regardless of the product or service. jmo. < BTW you seem to be in the same 20 long inet stocks as I am, so not to fear! But I still contend there are more shorts than longs at this point.... especially the isps and some secondary portals > We do seem to be on the same wavelength in most respects. Yes, I do try to stick with the inet bellwethers. Stocks I can believe in. amzn, pcln, and gnet, given pa's backing. Rob
