CB: <<< I think it's pretty well-established that there was no flood of the dimensions that is described in the story of Noah, at least by archeologists. >>> Well, there is a lot of "anecdotal" evidence, in that many cultures around the globe have legends concerning a great flood. The only geological evidence I've seen, or read about, is that core samples taken from the Mediterranean have indicated that it's dried up and refilled several times over the aeons. That could be attributed to the land mass at the Straits of Gibralter shifting, but it could also have resulted (some of the times) from the creation and melting of glaciers. As for archeologists, well...they're kind of in my doghouse now...hey, they're still sniping at Von Schlieman...and I don't think they'll ever give a shred of credibility to Homer...he'll always be nothing more than a wandering minstrel to them. But even worse is their (the archeological community) behavior towards the discovery of some (a great many) bones in the North West of our continent. The bones, according to an article I read in Archeology magazine, were originally described as being of caucasian origin, and were dated to be at about 2,000 years of age. Interesting? Since then, the description has been altered to their being deviant to Amerind derivation. Now various Amerind groups are trying to get the courts to have any further studies supressed/stopped, and have the bones given to them for "proper" burial of their "ancestors." IMHO, the Amerinds don't want anything published that would upset the way their "history" is viewed, and the archeological community doesn't raise a stink because it wouldn't be PC...meanwhile, science is stalled, if not set back.
