Chisy: Your thinking, as it relates to that Finnish article, mirrors my own. No, the article didn't speak to the technology supporting the activity. The author was more interested in the applications folks were finding for cellphones, etc.. As a telecom "expert" I gotta say I found some of what was stated very intriguing. Doing away with phone booths and directories, for instances. And the idea of text messaging which to my mind is just a weee short hop away from the full text delivery capabilities of the internet, not to mention music downloads direct to your device. I'm dreamin' now, but I see some sort of "Swiss Knife" device in the future which would be fully capable of cellphone, multi-media and video applications all tied to higher speed wireless access. Indeed, 3Com's Pilot is approaching that level of functionality. And I can see all citizenry having one. I can also "see" future legislative action on the horizon. After all, how long do you think the good citizens of the U.S. will tolerate being "junk mailed" by telemarketers before sumbody starts applying pressure on their local politico's, eh? Heh!

Anyway, as it relates to technology, if I was to bet on it I'd say the Finn's are aligned to the European wireless format, and that be GSM. Such players in that area are OMPT, Nokia, and Ericsson, to name but a few.

Regards!

John~
