Hi, I just meant they will have to seize control of their own destiny.
Working together to come up with a strong ,stable gold backed currency seems the way to start. It would also give them a better handle and control of capital flows in and out of the region. With gold being viewed as a useless relic by the west, the opportunity has arisen. They would be big enough to make gold as valuable as they say it is. After all, they have a "press" also. If the E.U etc. wants entrance to their market, they had better go along with an "Asian valuation" of the worth of gold. Somebody has been buying massive amounts of gold and it can't be all for necklaces.
Thinking about U.S. denominated debt owed by Asian countries has really got me wondering how large an amount is involved here. When you start taking in all these countries, Philippines, Indonesia, etc. the amount must be huge.A devaluation of the U.S. dollar could wipe out a lot of it. At what point would the balance swing to a "benefit", of a lower U.S. DOLLAR against continued "diminishing" exports to U.S. consumers. They must be working on a plan in the event of a u.s. contraction.Could this be it? If gold is a key component of their future plans, could they co-operatively (china), after acquiring gold assets, sell U.S. assets, assisting in its devaluation and manage to wipe out the "bloc" countries debt?
Would they then be in a healthy enough position, with the use of a stable gold backed currency, to be able to issue their own debt, with the money trickled down through their economy into the hands of the average, air con, television, refrigerator and endless other product desiring consumer.
One would wonder if the Asians were to (had the opportunity to) run up a trillions of dollars in debt much like another nation we all know and admire: who would be driving the off road utility vehicles and purchasing the $50 ferbies" instead of slaving away for a$6 dollar a day equivalent pay? "WAKE UP YOU SLEEPING GIANT, IT'S YOUR CENTURY"!
as always just thinkin-mike
