Video giant slashes Dreamcast price, playing catch-up with Sony

TOKYO (Reuters) - Electronic game giant Sega announced plans to slash
the price of its new Dreamcast video game machine by one-third on June 24
in a bid to boost sales in the ultra-competitive Japanese game market.

The onslaught of Sony's Playstation -- with a new model of its own out
later this year -- left investors unimpressed with Sega's move amid growing
concerns over the company's financial health and business prospects in the
game machine market.
