Neocon, Article... Alan Keyes 1. Memorial Day comment: In the Chinese espionage scandal we are faced with the kind of treasonous betrayal of our national interest that literally spits on the sacrifices of treasure, and blood, and life itself, that have safeguarded our liberty and security in the course of this 20th Century and which we remember today. Now we come to the end of that century and see the fruits that have been built up by those sacrifices of the American people betrayed and surrendered to an enemy that will prove to be utterly cold and ruthless once they are in a position to do us real harm. We should expect nothing else from the Communist Chinese dictators, given what they are willing to mete out to their own people. But it is the right, it is the duty, of the people of America to demand more from the leaders who serve us. If we are to learn the whole truth about the events of our national betrayal, and react in a way that allows us to deal with the consequences and safeguard ourselves, then the Republicans leadership will have to wake up NOW or the onus will fall on us to take that leadership, shake it out, and put in place people who will in fact be determined to stand for this nation's truths and principles, and fight for its survival. Because this is now what is at stake. We must find out who is responsible and clean house. We must rebuild our true intelligence capacity, which I believe has been systematically gutted by these traitors. And we must begin, with everything that is in us, to apply our technology to the one thing now that I think can safeguard us from the consequences of this mess, and that is an anti-missile defense system. We must do all of this with great urgency if we are to survive as a free people. We must use effectively the position we still have, in terms of our ability to influence events and choose leaders. We must stop playing games and acting as if we were in a time when business as usual is good enough, and our politicians can come to us with their stupid palaver about what they are going to do for us, and the money and programs they are going to have for us, and all the other ways they try to bribe us into passivity -- in the midst of a time when on every front, in domestic and foreign policy, we are seeing that our survival as a free people is at stake. We must respond to the situation in those terms, and look for the leadership willing to call it by its right name and deal with it urgently. We need, particularly, to resolve to act and vote in the coming election cycle as if it were the last election we will ever have. We must resolve to act as worthy heirs of the liberty purchased at the great cost we remember today, or we will soon lose that liberty and deserve to do so.
