Hmmm. The info that I've been going on was from a posting on this thread which was copied from EN:

"IBM to drop Rambus from future PC plans
IBM has decided to drop Rambus DRAM from its upcoming PC plans in favor of PC 133 SDRAM, and will be disengaging itself from the Rambus technology along multiple fronts including commitments by IBM Microelectronics to produce the devices, EN has learned from sources close to the company."

I went to the IBM site and spent about 2 minutes looking for a press release but didn't find one and I've got to get in the shower. The quote above makes it sound like the decision is driven from the PC Co and also extends to Microelectronics. But maybe the EN reporter just has his head up his a$$. Maybe there will be clarification today.
