Sosmartinov: CNBC just announced that E-Trade will swap 2.1 shares of it's stock for each TBFC share. The numbers; 44 1/2 (2.1)=93.45. Figure a 10% discount until the deal goes through and TBFC will likely open between 82-84. Also, Merrill announced they'll be offering on-line trading to their customers (they didn't mention WHICH customers at roughly Schwab's commission rates...$29.95) This is not NEW news, Merrill's been talking about it for a couple of months...but it does solidify where things are heading.
