NEW YORK, June 1 (Reuters) - Shares in Amazon.com Inc. fell in early trade Tuesday after a critical article about the Internet retailer in Barron's financial newspaper.

Amazon.com was down at 111-5/8 on the Instinet electronic broker system from a Friday closing price of 118-12/16.

The fall came after a front-page weekend article in Barron's on the company headlined "Amazon.bomb."

"The idea that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has pioneered a new business paradigm is silly," the article said. "He's just another middleman, and the stock market is beginning to catch on to that fact."
