National Semiconductor Introduces Stereo Amplifier for
Single-Supply Sound Systems

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1999--National Semiconductor Corporation® (NYSE:NSM - news) today
announced an audio amplifier for designers of stereo TVs, mini-component systems, multimedia PCs, active speakers and other
low-power audio applications requiring single power supply operation.

The LM4753 delivers 10 watts per channel with 50dB of channel separation into 8-ohm speakers from a 28V supply at 10 percent
THD+N (total harmonic distortion plus noise). Key features include a cost effective built-in volume control from 0 to 5VDC, a very
quiet music fade-in/fade-out mute and a power-conserving standby function of 7ma that enhances compliance with ''green'' standards.

''The need for a built-in DC-controlled volume block and single supply operation became apparent after many discussions with OEM
customers in search of the optimum solution for low-power audio amplification,'' said Steve Kaufman, strategic marketing manager for
National's audio group.

''The LM4753 now meets those needs. On close examination, it leads competitive amplifiers on the price curve with no sacrifice in
sound quality.''

With gain internally set at 30dB, the number of external components required is reduced by as much as 50 percent. The LM4753
maintains an excellent signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 64dB. The device operates through the full temperature range of
-20(Degrees)C to +85(Degrees)C.

Price and Availability

The LM4753 is now available in a 15-lead TO220 package. In quantities of 1000, the LM4753T is priced at $1.60 each. For more
