FutureLink Names Philip R.Ladouceur, Former Executive Chairman of Metronet, as ExecutiveChairman

June 2, 1999 07:03 PM
CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 1999--FutureLink Distribution Corp. FLNKD , a leading Application Service Provider (ASP) today announced that Philip R. Ladouceur, 57, formerly an external director, has been named to the senior officer position of Executive Chairman of the Board.

Formerly Executive Chairman at MetroNet Communications Corp. METNF , Ladouceur will take an active role in helping lead FutureLink's aggressive ASP growth strategy including business development, strategic direction, financings and growth initiatives.

Ladouceur served as founding President and Chief Executive Officer of MetroNet in 1996 and subsequently as Executive Chairman. In 3 years, Ladouceur grew MetroNet from a private equity market valuation of $15 million to a public equity market capitalization of $3 billion. During this period, Ladouceur led MetroNet's IPO (over a billion dollars of debt and equity financing), the acquisition of Rogers Telecom and co-led MetroNet's strategic alliance with AT&T which led to the $4.5 billion merger with AT&T Canada.

From 1992 to 1995, Ladouceur was the founding President and CEO of Information Systems Management Ltd. (ISM), a computer and network management outsourcing company. Under Ladouceur's direction, ISM grew from to $50 million in annualized revenue and to over 700 employees in a two-year period from start-up, with a revenue backlog of $500 million. ISM was subsequently purchased by IBM Global Services.

Ladouceur was previously Executive Vice President of Bell Canada International BCICF and Chief Financial Officer of Canadian cable giant Rogers Communications RG

"I am enthusiastic about the tremendous potential of the ASP industry. FutureLink possesses the same potential I found in MetroNet and ISM," said Ladouceur. "FutureLink is a leader in this emerging ASP industry and I look forward to joining the management team to build a world class company and maximize shareholder value."

"For FutureLink to garner the attention of an executive with Phil's track record is a major triumph for the company," said Cameron Chell, founder, President and CEO of FutureLink. "His support as a Director over the past year has been invaluable and we look forward to his active leadership in building FutureLink."

Cameron Chell will now focus on his roles as FutureLink CEO and President, as well as his role as President of the newly formed ASP Industry Consortium.
