Compradun: It has been six years since I had a thorough experience with First Alert. At that time, the program was very professional, although quite cumbersome due to its OS/2 format. Technical support was very expensive back then as they charged you on a per minute or per call basis, and the program was only leasable, not buyable. This of course made it an exceptionally expensive product that became unnecessary for us when programs like the Executioner.com and Livewire came on the scene. Livewire's ease of use and low cost, as compared with First Alert, made it a much better winner for us. However, I must say that I miss First Alert's customizable scanning capabilities. it was close to working flawlessly when I was a user, and I have yet to find another product with one as robust.
