I would not be buying an internut right now, but these buyout plays seem to keep a floor under the stock price. IMHO

The market has been weak for a while now. I think many people expect it to bottom soon since it has retreated 10% from recent highs. Unless we go into an extended bear market, usually corrections are in the range of 5% - 15%. Sounds like you don't think it's over...any thoughts on how long this correction may last?

Tim, I've been playing defensively for two months... This market scares me to death. Techs will continue to slide and soon there will be earnings warnings prior to quarter end...

Tim, I started trading April 98 so I have only seen Bull Run never a bear market. I can see a flat to slightly lower 6 month stretch ahead of us. Is that a bear market? Bottom around 9000. Just totally guessing but I do not see that as being that terrible. I would call it a minor correction.

What are you seeing for the next 2Qs? What about a bottom to the DOW? If you'd care to venture an educated guess.....

I am by nature very optimistic. I think we have the talents to find stocks to trade even if it is back to daytrading.....

Also, the tech stocks will still be needed and wanted. The big Inuts may come under some realistic evaluations which will kill some. But others will fair very well. I am very interested in your view.

Thanks Tim, for your observation. IMHO, One weakness of the individual stock discussion threads on SI is that there is far too much cheerleading the particular stock of the thread, and that a balanced view that points out the downside is often lacking - or criticised so much that remarks are not taken into account. I do see more of a balance on this thread. I've made money here, made up for some big losses last year, but I still remember that there is a dark side as well, and no-one can call them all right! Holding the strong picks (mostly COMS & CS), and won't be pushing into panic selling.

Ben

I am CASH and 2 stocks after selling most positions at the open. I agree that this market is not acting well. It seems to be looking for reasons to sell off so I will wait for better opportunities with cash in hand . :-) MarkC

Tim you are not the only one turning bearish. However I don't think this is the start of anything serious. The nuts are in the process of weeding out the crap. It's about time and its healthy. The only danger to the overall market is margin risk.
