They used to have the shortfall of slower design and production, but they overcome these problem by investing heavily in CHINA. Pretty soon their products will be much superior and inexpensive. The competitive edge is so strong as to be able to cripple the companies like INTC. Dream on. China for production plants? Semiconductor companies have been putting manufacturing plants in the Far East for decades. What has IBM discovered that all the rest haven't in all that time? What's the matter, are Yahoo message boards down this morning?
