JFD, That is basically the flaw in the government's argument. One needs to then ask the question: For whose benefit is this anti-trust case being undertaken. IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, AOL/Netscape and others. All of these companies would be very upset if the government reaches a deal with MSFT because they want continued negative press coverage to make up for their own competitive shortcomings, that is, create more Microsoft haters.

I heard the CNBC report after 12:00 PM; the reporter also mentioned that there was some meeting during the day. I guess they are continuing the negotiations as the trial goes on. Could it be that they are very close to settlement? That is how I would read into any meetings taking place while the trial is restarting.

If there is a settlement, MSFT will fly!!!
That is why I am buying more shares while i have the chance even though we could face interest rate hurdles in the coming week. IMHO, the gains expected within one year should be enough reason to buy even with this interest rate uncertainty. Short term calls options buyers of course have to be careful---i am not joining that crowd just yet because i don't feel that confident in short term movements.
