See my previous post on the software fixes for Y2K in the MSFT world. SCO (and most unix flavors) and Novell 4xx and later also are compliant. DOS, Win 3.1, Novell 3xx and earlier, and a number of other SW which is probably in use will maybe burp, maybe not - it depends on the application software, and whether the app "plays by the rules" and uses standard system calls or whether it goes directly to the RTC hardware.

But you're right, there will be a blizzard of lawsuits against everyone in the food chain. DELL will be no exception. Still, what else is new? That stuff will mostly be thrown out and at the end of the day few claims against HW manufacturers will have merit. None of it will get settled until 2010 anyway...
