It is a year old discussion ..Is the y2k slowing down purchases of hardware or is it accelerating it..first of all if the argument is that it is accelerating it and it will slow down by the end of the year, Then Mr. King must also comment on IBM as well as most any other hardware vendor. I would say IBM is most vulnerable in this scenario. However from where I sit I think will be the opposite. All of SUNs boxes are Y2k compliant on the hardware front( unless they are like 10 years old) and most of large companies I know of have y2k project freeze, which means that no new projects will be started and no additional hardware is purchased until y2k is behind us. In fact most of the sales reps I know( from IBM, cpq, Sgi, SUN,..etc) are complaining that all new purchases are being put on hold until 4th quarter. in any case it is very strange that he is picking on SUN and HP only.
